Third Culture Kamp is a unique, one-week, Christian camp experience in the Czech Republic specifically designed for young people growing up outside of their family’s “home” culture––i.e Third Culture Kids.

We combine authentic worship, meaningful teaching and discussion, and lively fun and games in a welcoming environment so that young people:

  • Find a place of belonging with friends of a shared backgroud

  • Know both what and why they believe as maturing Christian disciples

  • Become the kind of people God has called them to be in the world

Why do we do this?

Simple. God loves TCKs and we do too. Often these young people struggle with identity, feeling (and being treated) like foreigners both in their host culture and their passport nation. But they easily form deep and meaningful bonds with others who have had a similar upbringing. That is the special ingredient of this camp: the 'third' culture that emerges as these kids simply get together. The warm and intimate atmosphere this creates is the perfect environment to learn, laugh and grow together as young people. It is beautiful to witness.

Who are we?

Third Culture Kamp is a ministry of the International Church of Prague, an interdenominational Christian church in Prague, Czech Republic. The camp is directed by Ian (an adult TCK himself) and Celina Martin, who are former missionaries to the Czech Republic, and senior leaders of New Covenant Christian Community Church in Pennsylvania, USA. Each year the camp is staffed by a team of mature Christian volunteers from various nations.

When did camp start?

In 1998, Maják (The Lighthouse) ministry, located in Brno, Czech Republic, began a camp for their children run at the same time and the same place as their English camp. Three families attended the first camp. Each year the camp grew as more missionary families began to join. When the Croft family relocated in 2005, leadership was passed on to american missionaries Marshall and Kathryn Brown, who then handed handed camp over to the International Church of Prague (ICP) in 2009.

From that point on camp has been a ministry of ICP, overseen by the elders of the church and organized through it's city-wide teen ministry Youth Praha. Ian and Celina first attended as counsellors in 2012 and have been the directors since 2016. Each year supporting churches from the Czech Republic, USA, UK and elsewhere send a team of volunteers staff to run the camp that now sees attendance of over 100 kids and teens from around Europe.
